The history of the Faculty of Management begins in 1990 when as the result of the efforts of the rector of Białystok Technical University of that time prof. Kazimierz Pieńkowski, PhD, DSc the Postgraduate School of Organisation and Management was founded at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. The University was capable to educate students in the field of marketing and management possessing qualified staff and fulfilling organizational requirements – meaning possessing necessary lecture halls, laboratories and libraries. It is remarkable that it was a time of great political and economic changes in Poland. In 1991 The Social Sciences Unit was converted into the Chair of Social and Economic Sciences, which later evolved into the Institute of Management and Marketing, opened on the ground of the decision of The Ministry of Education, issued January 21st 1993. The first students started their studies in the academic year 1993/94. It were undergraduate studies, but only five years later the Institute was allowed to conduct master studies. In 2001 the Institute was converted into the Faculty of Management. It is currently the biggest faculty of the Bialystok Technical University and it is rapidly developing. The set of modern buildings with gastronomic base comprises the faculty campus with wireless Internet. From the beginning of the activity of the Faculty there have been 8 198 graduates.

The Faculty of Management offers 5-year master studies in “marketing and management” and “management and production engineering” with the specialty modern technologies management. The students of these courses will graduate in 2010. The university is adjustifying its educational offer to Bologna Process, which is why there is no enrolment for 5-year master studies.
